The construction of the Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel has remained stalled for the last 20 days owing to local people's protests.
The latest disruptions started as locals got infuriated once again over the concerned authorities' failure to keep their promises.
As a result, work on both the Kathmandu and Dhading sides of the tunnel has come to a complete halt.
Project officials have cautioned that the project meant to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Kathmandu and western Nepal will be delayed further if disruptions continue.
