Manthali Municipality has provided immediate relief assistance of Rs 20,000 each to the families of those who lost their lives in the bus accident that occurred on Tuesday in the Tamakoshi River at Manthali Municipality–6.
An agreement was reached with the victims’ families, who had taken to protest demanding relief and compensation, after the local administration pledged to provide benefits in accordance with the law and to initiate further support. Following the agreement, postmortem procedures were completed today, and the bodies were handed over to the families.
The discussion was attended by security chiefs, elected representatives, leaders of various political parties, and representatives of the bus company. The administration expressed sorrow over the incident and stated that necessary procedures would be carried out to ensure justice for the victims’ families.
The bus (Province 03–01–005 Kha 9975) operated by Nepal Arniko Transport Service Pvt. Ltd., which was traveling from Kathmandu to Gamnang in Okhaldhunga via Ramechhap, plunged into the Tamakoshi River on Tuesday, killing 12 people and injuring eight others. Among the injured, seven are receiving treatment at hospitals in Dhulikhel and Kathmandu. The driver, who sustained minor injuries, has been taken into police custody after receiving treatment, police said.
