Doctors across Nepal are set to begin their protest today, following the call of the Nepal Medical Association. As part of their demonstration, they will wear black bands around their eyes and stage a one-hour sit-in outside their respective offices.
The protest comes after the government's failure to meet their demands within the given 48-hour deadline. According to the association, the demonstration will continue for two days in health institutions across the country.
Their key demands include the immediate creation and advertisement of additional posts for doctors and healthcare workers, permanent appointments for those working under hospital development committees, standardized recruitment, salaries, and allowances, as well as the provision of risk and other additional benefits.
The association has warned that if their demands are not met, they will escalate the protest by halting all services except emergency care.
