Shankardev Campus has been locked after accusations that the FSU President misused funds to admit students before the upcoming FSU elections slated for March 18.
The ANNFSU, a student group affiliated to UML, locked the campus, claiming that FSU President Sushant Basnet used FSU money to enroll over 400 students.
These students were reportedly admitted by saying they were from poor, backward communities or differently-abled.
A leader from ANNFSU said, “We want an investigation because the FSU President himself has done wrong by allowing fake admissions. These fake students must be removed, otherwise the election cannot happen.”
However, FSU President Basnet denied the accusations. He said that other groups, including ANNFSU, were responsible for the fake admissions, not him.
“The issue is not about me. I have heard that ANNFSU admitted fake students. I have already told the campus principal and the election officer that this needs to be investigated,” Basnet said.
Due to the growing tension, Election Officer Dhurba Subedi has postponed the FSU election until further notice, saying the situation is not normal.
