The Nepali Congress (NC) has made public its official election guidelines for the upcoming general election on March 5, focusing on respectful competition and avoiding personal attacks.
The guidelines, titled “Nepali Congress Election Mobilization Guidelines 2082,” were approved during a virtual meeting of the party’s Central Work Execution Committee held today.
NC Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma, who is also the coordinator of the Central Election Mobilization Committee, led the preparation of these guidelines.
According to the directive, the Nepali Congress has decided not to insult or attack candidates from other political parties.
The party said it will make constructive and respectful comments about rival parties and their candidates. If criticism is needed, it should be based on issues and clear arguments, not personal insults.
The guidelines also state that elections should not be treated as a place for hostility, but as a platform for healthy competition of ideas and leadership.
The party clarified that no party or candidate is an enemy of the Nepali Congress. It said it wants to promote a culture of civil and respectful election competition through its behavior.
The Nepali Congress also urged all political groups to help maintain a peaceful and friendly election environment, while still taking part in fair competition.
It added that party candidates and campaigners will not make hateful, provocative, or inflammatory statements. The party said normal political sarcasm is common during elections, but its leaders and workers must remain mature and disciplined in public.
The Nepali Congress has fielded candidates in all 165 constituencies, and the election will be held on March 5, 2026.
