Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has expressed confidence that Nepal will be removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List earlier than expected.
After Nepal was placed on the Grey List, Paudel said, “This happened because we couldn't complete the required tasks on time in the past. However, Nepal's Action Plan has been approved at the Paris meeting. By following the plan, we will be removed from the Grey List sooner than expected.”
Being on the Grey List means that Nepal is under closer monitoring due to weaknesses in fighting money laundering and terrorist financing.
The government is now focused on carrying out the approved plan to fix these issues and regain the country's financial reputation.
