Clash Over Yarsagumba Collection in Dolpa, 700 Involved

A fight broke out on Saturday afternoon between two groups of people collecting Yarsagumba in Thala Lek, Thuli Bheri municipality-1, Dolpa district.

According to Shailendra Thapa, an officer from the Armed Police Force, the conflict happened between people from Maikot rural municipality in Eastern Rukum and those from Kaike rural municipality and Thuli Bheri municipality in Dolpa. The fight was over who had the right to collect Yarsagumba in that area.

Around 700 people were involved in the clash. To control the situation, a police team under sub-inspector from the Armed Police Force’s No 46 Battalion in Dolpa fired two warning shots using SLR rifles.

Authorities said the situation is now under control.
