The Annapurna Conservation Area has already surpassed last year’s total tourist arrivals within the first ten months of 2025. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), a total of 246,575 foreign tourists visited the region between January and October this year.
Of them, 146,968 were from South Asian countries, while 99,607 came from other parts of the world. April recorded the highest number of arrivals with 44,763 visitors, whereas January saw the lowest at 9,359.
ACAP chief Dr. Rabin Kadariya said that tourist numbers rose in all months except May and September compared to 2024, when 244,045 tourists had visited throughout the year.
Known globally for its trekking routes, especially the Annapurna Circuit and Muktinath trail, the region typically sees its peak seasons from March to May and September to November. Tourist arrivals have also been high via surface routes leading to popular destinations in the area.
Dr. Kadariya added that while only 18,836 foreign tourists visited in 2020 due to the pandemic, the steady rebound highlights the Annapurna region’s enduring global appeal.
