A writ petition filed against the government’s decision to recall 11 Nepali ambassadors is being heard at the Supreme Court today.

Advocates Pratibha Upreti and Sunil Bhattarai lodged the petition, naming the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers as the respondent.

The government had decided on October 6 to recall ambassadors from China, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US, and Japan. The case, postponed from Friday, is being reviewed by Justices Sharanga Subedi and Shrikanta Paudel.

The petitioners argue that the recall was politically driven and goes against diplomatic standards and principles of good governance.
