Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on Nepal Airlines to retrieve the engine of its A320 aircraft currently in Israel and resume flights immediately. She raised concerns over the airline relying on a rented engine while its own remained unused, highlighting the rising costs and inefficiency.

At a Thursday meeting in Singha Durbar with the airline’s board and senior officials, PM Karki stressed that publicly funded companies should not remain grounded due to procedural delays and urged prompt, effective decision-making in the institution’s interest.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Chief Secretary Eka Narayan Aryal, Tourism and Civil Aviation Secretary Hari Prasad Mainali, Nepal Airlines Chairperson Bikram Rai, and Acting Managing Director Jankaraj Kalakheti.
