A special chartered flight of Nepal Airlines is scheduled for this afternoon to bring passengers stranded in Bhairahawa back to Kathmandu after road transport was disrupted by heavy rainfall.

According to Gautam Buddha International Airport General Manager Pratap Babu Tiwari, the flight, initially planned for Sunday night, was postponed due to incomplete preparations. The rescheduled flight will now depart from Bhairahawa at 2:45 PM today.

Rupandehi Chief District Officer Dr. Tokraj Pandey informed that the aircraft will arrive in Bhairahawa from Kathmandu at 1:00 PM before making the return trip. Passengers had faced difficulties purchasing tickets due to system issues, but the administration has managed to collect names manually to ensure their travel today.

Earlier, on the request of the Rupandehi District Administration Office, Nepal Airlines had arranged a 158-seat aircraft to transport passengers stranded by the road closures. The airline had already secured permission from the Civil Aviation Authority for flights between 7:15 PM and 9:45 PM on Sunday.

The airline announced ticket fares of Rs 5,000 for Kathmandu–Bhairahawa and Rs 7,000 for Bhairahawa–Kathmandu. Priority will be given to patients, travellers heading abroad for studies or employment, and tourists, according to CDO Pandey.
