The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation has reached an agreement to address disputes surrounding the Melamchi Water Supply Project, officials confirmed Tuesday night. The deal involves local governments, community committees, flood-affected groups, and vendors in the project area.

A three-member committee representing affected stakeholders will oversee relief, compensation, and project-related decisions over the next three months. The Ministry of Finance will release overdue payments to local vendors within 15 days, resolving long-standing delays.

A study will also assess flood impacts on property, agriculture, businesses, and livelihoods in Melamchi, using data from the Sindhupalchowk District Disaster Management Committee. Drafts and decisions will be prepared with consent from local authorities and the Board’s Executive Committee before submission to relevant agencies.

Officials said the coordinated effort aims to ensure smooth project continuation while protecting local community interests.
