The Nepali Embassy in Muscat organized a labour awareness and financial education programme for Nepali workers in Oman. The event aimed to give workers important information and useful services.
During the programme on Friday, participants learned about using artificial intelligence in daily life, taking care of their physical and mental health, the Social Security Fund, rules about what activities are allowed and not allowed in Oman, workers’ rights, and basic financial knowledge. They were also given advice on how to live safely and productively.
A mobile service camp was set up to provide passport and consular services. For workers who could not take leave or who came from far away, a medical team from Al Sama Hospital offered a free health camp and basic medical services. Many workers said they were happy that such a helpful programme was held on a public holiday.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Dornath Aryal said that the 11th meeting of the Standing Committee on Development Diplomacy had been held with members of different Nepali community groups in Oman. The meeting discussed the embassy’s work, possible policy changes, rescue and welfare support for Nepali workers, and plans to promote tourism, investment, trade, and employment.
Suresh Khadka, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Social Club, gave a memorandum to Ambassador Aryal requesting a review of the related policies.
